Is there any benefit to just making the hole in the box without the other stuff???
Also, are there any disadvantages.....like sucking water up in there, especially with a stock PAPER filter?

someone tested the hole with a stock filter and got gains.
there are already 2 small holes there for water to drain out of... You would really have to sit in a flood for it to suck anything up in there...
