Default Does the AWE DTS use SAE sized allen bolts?!?!

Long story short, I was about to remove the cross bar, only to find that the size was between 6mm and 7mm. I aborted that project, and figured I'd look it up later. Just found it as odd, and only a few days after a friend of mine commented how screwed he be if he bought a domestic car based on his metric tool investment ;-)

Default The mount is a domestic car part.

So, yes, the fasteners that bolt the mount to the cross bar are fractional. Not much we could do about that except get a custom mount made, which frankly was not justified for this minor issue.

The balance of the parts are metric.

Sorry for the hassle.

Our instructions give the fastener specs.

Default I took a quick look at the install doc and didn't see them mentioned on there either. Ok to remove?

those?

I have a new(used) tranny in there, and I forgot to tap the threads before install. So right now, the cross bar is in the way of the holes to tap. I was going to just remove the 6 allens instead of the whole thing.

You can remove those, but use a small amount of thread sealant to renew the threads upon reassembly.
