Does the newer style intake manifold have larger runners or are they the same as the 2000 manifold?

on a related note - does the port size exactly match the port on the head? Could not find the answer via search...

not sure if you saw this older posts..
i would think that the only 2 differences between the 2 manifolds are the ceiling and the vacuum pipes that come out of the back of the manifolds.

I found the first two, and remember seeing the third. None of them say if the ports or runners
are any different. For some reason I thought that the 2002 style intake manifold had larger ports. That got me thinking that since the heads are unchanged - there is some port matching that should be done. I can easilty do it, throw intake spacers in there - hell - RS4 head gaskets in. Perhaps the ports are actually the same and I am just imagining... that makes the most sense.

do you really want to take the heads off ?
"Jeff Doyle - boscoj" just had s4 heads ported/polished to match rs4 intake manifold, email him and see if he's give you some details.

I'm a 2000 and have no idea about the different stock manifolds . . . edit
and I didn't port the S4 head I ported 2.8 heads which match very well with the RS4 intake manifold. The S4 do not.

I read that about the 2.7 head. 2.8 could be the same - dunno
"The shape of the inlet duct causes the drawnin
air to tumble.
Advantages:
*A good degree of swirl and high ignitability
fuel-air mixture are achieved
*The tumble effect allows more efficient
combustion"
In some engines they change the head design on FI variants. That is in the old days tho. Maybe the 2.8 is the same.

Okay well made two mistakes lately. The S4 intake does actually mate up to the S4 head pretty well .
