Does replacing ABS pump controller expose brake fluid?
 

The ABS pump controller on my 2000 S4 is starting to fail. I've searched the board and it appears to be a common failure. It looks like replacing the controller in the engine compartment usually does the trick.

My question is, does removing the controller release brake fluid or do the hydraulics remain intact?

The part number on my controller is 8E0 614 111 A. Is there an updated part for the 2000 S4?

nope, none of the hydraulics are touched, its a pretty easy swap :-)

2 companies, one in Europe one in US know what the problem is and can repair the module.

Will 8E0 614 111 E work? Saw some on car-part.com.

No, those are for cars equipped with ESP. AutoECU.com will rebuild your module for $350/5yr warranty

Whoa.. "E" is what the dealer sold me (for $1000)
 

"A" is the non-bled unit for oem production. "E" is the pre-bled replacement part.
