Drag reports from Sears Point..
Okay.. surprising day today. I did good. Not as good as I want, but good none the less.
Here are pics of my 3 runs...
Timed Run #1:
First timed run..
I was real anxious to try out the car since I upgraded my Forge valves with the new aluminum pistons. But dyno was making the car feel so much smoother. No more two stage bursts from the sticky valves.
I felt I had a good run. Good take off. Good speed. Every thing felt good. Low and behold.. when I got my time slip.. almost a 14 flat for me.. WOW... what surprised me the most was my 60ft. I finally got under 2.0 and into the 1.9x range. WOOHOO.
My opponent on this run was some riced out honda accord or something. Don't remember.

Timed Run #02:
Well, that was a good take off, lets see if I can duplicate. No such luck. The only thing good on this run is my RT. 60ft sucked and I am getting slower, back to 14.1 and plus. I guess that 14.0x was a fluke for me. Hopefully I will get one more chance at a timed run before eliminations start.
My opponent for this run was a TwinTurbo 300Z. Close race, if he hadnt had suck a crappy RT, he might have won.

Elimination Round #01
Well, so much for another timed before eliminations. What should I dial in at? Well, lets be optimistic and see how I do at dialing in at 14.0, that should be good.
WHAT!!! I may have broken out, but I am in the 13's BABY!!! Only down from here!!! WOOHOO!!
The crappy part... Both my opponent and I both broke out. He more than I. But, I lost. I got disqualified for not having a helment. Of all the days.
My opponent for this run.. a white S2000.. didnt even have plates on it yet.
Notes on this run.. RT was good.. another good 60ft.. must improve...

Finals notes..
Why did I know I was going to break 13's today? Let me tell you.. because of all the days.. I forgot my helmet. So, ofcourse.. I will break 13's.
I found so far the best launch.. +/- 4000RPM. Second run was done at around 4500-5000RPM. Too high. It was my mistake for watching my computer. I had my VAG hooked up watching my RPM/Torque/BOOST. Wish there was a way to capture.
Notes for sears point. I hate that right side. I much prefer the left side.
I need some help here from the drag kings and queens.. NASA... MING... R... what can I do to improve? I am getting the launch down better and better... my RT is getting pretty consistant... for me at least... what can I do? Shifting needs improvement I think... when should I shift.. I have been shifting close to 7000RPM.. HELP!!!
Well, thats about it.

You can log with VAG-COM...
Or did I misunderstand your "I had my VAG hooked up watching my RPM/Torque/BOOST. Wish there was a way to capture."
alpha 0.76 can do data logging, very distracting though =) constantly looking over, starting/stopping the log while cursing at yourself for not turning off powersaving on the laptop screen =)

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VAG-COM/message/1770

Re: Drag reports from Sears Point..
Am I correct in assuming that your car has a chip and only ran a best of 99.9mph? What did your car run stock? I assumed that these cars would run 14.0 @ 99mph stock. Hopefully I will be able to get mine to the track soon to get a stock baseline run. This will also allow me to compare it to the 540i 6-speed we traded for the S4. I wish they had shown your 1/8 mile ET and MPH, because that is what I typically run.

Good job on getting the 60ft in the 1.9s. Here's what I do.
I usually launch around 3500-3700. I do the whole slight slip of the clutch thing before flooring/droping the clutch. I shift from 1st to 2nd around 6700, then from 2nd to 3rd around 6600-6700. If you're going to shift to 4th, shift around 6500. From my experience, shifting at 7000 leaves you too high in the next gear. Just try shifting at 6500-6700 your next trip to the track.
Question, what's your boost above 6000rpm? Even though the VAG is very useful, I like having a boost gauge. It's easier to monitor what boost you're running on the fly.
By the way. On your first run....if you would have been in the 1.9s for the 60ft (ideally 1.8-1.9), that would have been 13.7 or better. Probably a 13.6-13.5!!!! So, got get that mid 13sec timeslip. ;D

here are some ideas
at sears point you should be running in the mid13s with stage II. I was running 14.10 at an adjusted altitude density of 7700ft. There are a couple practical things you can do. Take the spare out, thats 50 pounds. Pump up the tires to 45 pounds all around (you don't need the traction and the higher pressure will help the top end). And get 100 or 104 unleaded race gas. That made the biggest difference for me... especially if it is hot outside.
As far as bracket racing, get your RTs in the 600s. It looks like you know how to do it, just keep it consistent. For shifting, I have the MTM chip and it drops off after 6000. So I generally shift at 6000 and let it run out in 3rd. The problem is that you will be going faster SearsPoint so will probably need to shift 4th?
For dial in, I dial soft, because I am really inconsistent in the S4. Also, I am generally the fastest in my bracket and I like chasing. I like to chase in this car because it is easier to gauge when you are going to pass these imports and tap the brakes just before the finish line to insure you dont break out....

btw, Im not going to bracket race the S4 anymore because it is too damn hard to be consistent. If you have any success in bracket racing, I'd love to hear about it.
