Drove an RS6 ...impressions

My dealer had a few RS6 in stock and I was fortunate enough to drive one. First let me say that it is a beautiful car and Audi did not disappoint in the fit and finish department. The exterior gives the impression of badassness(?) and subtle class. Nice details are the wiiiide tires and drilled rotors.

Interior was comfy and I felt right at home. Too much so in fact. I wanted to told it was something special, and the wood trim was exceptional, but it looked just like the A6/S6. Nothing special.

Driving impressions? The first thing I noticed was the incredible stopping power of the brakes. I imagine its comparable to those of you with big brake kits except with more weight. I was mildly suprised with the pedal feel and immediacy of the stopping.

Next was the chassis. Very planted and tractable but it soaked up the ****ty pavement around here without complaint. I wasn't able to get too wild with the car since I shouldn't have been driving it in the first place, but i did get on it several times, full throttle from a dead stop. My honest impression was that of ambivalence toward the acceleration. Perhaps I was expecting more, but my Mustang cobra with 450 BHP would eat it for breakfast any day of the week as long as it was dry. I was disappointed. So I nailed it again. It is definitely quick, but it does not feel like it from the drivers seat. I did, however get merged into traffic with ease.

Also, I did not get the chance to open it up on the highway, but I expect I would have been quite pleased at 150 as smooth as silk.

Overall impression? Very nice car, quite capable as an everyday car with some cohones', but for 86K I want a car that makes me smile every time. Not a sophisticated "I have one and you don't" smirk, but a cheesy **** eatin holy F*#&! kinda smile. My money would be better spent elsewhere methinks.

Anyone else out there have the same impressions?
Sorry if any bubbles were burst. Mine were too.

Don't say that on the A6 forum, they'll lynch you : )

Thanks for the unbiased opinion.

But comparing it to a SC Mustang Cobra is a bit like apples and oranges. Even though I am glad to hear real world information.
