Dumb FATS question- How come FATS isn't just 60-90 MPH time?
If FATS is made to be able to compare your car to others 60-90 MPH time, how come FATS test doesn't use the same range? Any car (even TIPs) can measure 60-90 time.

Because Darin chose 4260-6500 for unofficial testing way back a long time ago.
Many of us used that test to compare cars before/after certain mods, etc. Then it became more of an official thing much later....so we decided to drop it to 4200 in order to make things less complicated.

What is the difference in accuracy if speed is logged on VAG instead of RPM?
It also seems to me that since everybody uses excel to process VAG RPM logs that 60-90 time can be determined from this data.
