E 30 M3
I am a 17 year old driver and I am about buying an E 30 m3. My mom owns a 2001 S4 and I know you guys are the experts. What do you guys think about this car? I know how to drive stick O.K, will this car be too challenging for me? Also I already have one accident on my record, which was speed related, will my insurance sky rocket with this car?
Thanks for your help

It's a pretty good car I'd say.
Some would say that a built E30 M3 can take most E36 M3's out there. My friend owns one and races SCCA with it. The handling is phenomenal in that thing. I'd say get it and fix it up. It's pretty cool for a Bimmer.

Best Performance Car BMW Made
The E30 M3 was the last time that BMW sold a road car that was converted for homologation purposes from a track car. Great steering, roadholding. Best model was EVO Sport but not sure if it was imported to US. You will have a great time and if poss take it on a track day.

Great car. Expensive to own.
The E30 M3 is a race car that BMW sold for road use. It is a great car. Period.
However. The cars are getting pretty old at this point. Parts are sometimes hard to find, and repairs can be very expensive. Insurance will also be very expensive. Therefore if you don't have several thousand dollars a year budgeted for repairs, i wouldn't do it as your primary vehicle. Better off with a 325.

2 vs. 4 doors
One advantage that the S4 has when being insured is the fact that it has 4 doors. When insurance companies see that the car only has 2 doors they automatically think, "SPORTS CAR" and that will cause your premium to go up A LOT. If you see a 4 door car that you like, i.e. the S4 ask your insurance company how much it will cost to insure it. I'd bet it will be a lot less than most of the 2 door BMWs you're looking at.
