E85 and our S4s? Why? Why not? 100-110 octane sounds good to me.

SRLSY. No ideas I can think of against this, other than possible solvent-like action in the fuel systems, so check the fuel filters, etc, but that's it. Other ideas?

Default the octane may be higher, but the energy contained per unit of volume is less in E85 than petrol

so you'd need to upgrade the fuel system to use a lot more fuel, and would probably need to run more boost, just to get equal amounts of power.

Default thats ***.....I wasn't aware of that. All the literature says E85 cars are supposed to have better

performance.

Default yeah thats bullsh!t

but i guess it depends on how you measure performance. performance per unit of pollution? maybe. performance per unit of fuel? not a chance.

like i said though, if the fueling system could pump more in, and the turbos could supply the required boost, you should be able to make the same power, and maybe make more... who knows.

you might be able to infer some information by studying the performace of alcohol fuel drag cars work. ie: amount of fuel used relative to hp relative to supercharger boost.

just a thought...

Default whats interesting is the brazil uses E85 made from local sugar cane to reduce dependancy

on forign oil. now they're dependent on forign crops because more and more of their farm land has been converted to grow sugar for E85 production. basically they've gone from importing oil to importing food.

smart. <rollseyes>

Default Not true.

We import and export alcohol. The strategy is to maintain a pressure on the local producers to make prices flat.

And we use something like E76 and full alcohol.
I use full alcohol in my car! But you need to use Huge injectors.

Default That IS true. More octane and more timing is more performance.

I've seen back to back tests on E85 capable cars and the performance was slightly faster with the E85.

Due to different stoich ratios and BTU differences, the fuel consumption is higher with the E85.

Default Even if so, 100 octane is better performing IMO, and cheaper.

Cheaper once you take out the silly government subsidies (from our pockets) of the E85.
