Default I like it.

It allowed me to switch the car back to stock (while driving in a spot that wasn't safe to pull off the road) when I blew my throttle body boot.
--

Default When I have my wife drive

I switch -- safer for every one and very easy 10 -15 seconds, even while your moving,
(they don't recommend that -- but it works)

Default I think its pretty easy and safe to switch... just don't watch the lights...

Its easy, hit the button, count to seven, and you're stock. Count to twelve and you're chipped.
--

Default Isn't GIAC coming out with this too?

I seem to remember reading that he was testing a multi-program chip mod too. I think his used a seperate switch and wires to the ECU. Maybe he decided to go back to the drawing board after seeing EMCS.

Default Awesome! Get it. You won't regret it.

For extra kicks get the 100-octane program and take it to a track.

Actual quote from an onlooker (driver of a race prepped bimmer) at Lime Rock last weekend: "Holy sh*t that thing is fast! It looks like the car's trying to wheelie when you come out onto the main straight!" Now if only I didn't suck in the corners. :-)
- rob

Default HAHAHAHAHA!!!

Check out the link below, dated 5-12-00. I especially like the part 'I will begin testing on saturday so look for more posts.' I also like this part 'As I said before I am testing the chipswitch this weekend in my car.' Hmmm, if my math is correct I believe that makes it about 3 1/2 to 4 months, a little less than a year.

Really?? Wow, I didn't know that Garrett offered ANY sort of switchable setup. Oh, you must mean he started testing his switchable setup prototype a few months before EMCS was released into full production. Don't you think APR might have had working prototypes before their release? I know they had been talking about EMCS for a very long time and if you have seen the EMCS circuit it is very obvious that it is not something that is designed, prototyped, tested, and produced overnight. Oh, and didn't Garrett's beta setup use an external switch? The FlipSwitch part of APR's EMCS is not that innovative, it is the way that the features are implemented that seems innovative. There isn't anything on the market currently that can hold a candle up to the functionality of EMCS. Hopefully, it will strive other chip manufacturers to implement similar or even more advanced features into their products as well. But face it, APR was the first company to succesfully implement any of these features into a production product for the Audi/VW owner and they shouldn't be discredited.

https://www.audiworld.com/forum/m/performance/msgs/11981.phtml</a

Default EMCS is nice. But it is just a toy. You really don't need it .

The dealer would still know you have a chip if they inspected the ecu. I think you would be better off with a spare stock ecu , even if you have EMCS.

Default I can see where if someone else is driving the car(valet, son, daughter)

You can switch it back to stock. I personally can see that being handy if my daughter was 16 - 18 yrs old and wanted to use the car(switch it to stock, dang wishing the thing could be switched to "detuned"!!! so she would only be able to go 75 top speed!lOL). Its the convenience that is the selling point. As far as a dealer is concerned your right, I would swap it out for stock to be safe.
