Euro AudiSport Tranny vs Stasis rebuild
I am on the waiting list for both....they both should arrive around the same time. Now it's time to decide
Stasis rebuild - we all know the specs:
-1st gear, 2nd gear and input shaft - hardened, polished and cryo-rem treated
-New syncros, clips and seals
-STaSIS high-bias 4:1 torsen center differential ($550_value)
-Lash adjustment and shiftfork alignment included
$2200, plus ship, plus core
$500 shipping to NY/Boston area
I will make an assumption that I will lose $300 on core charge
That puts the total tranny cost at $3000
The Euro AudiSport tranny is a complete tranny, no core charge.
$5500 shipped
stronger input shafts
shot-peened gears
"modified" differential - I am still waiting on info
oil cooler
reduced ratio 3rd/4th gearing
So, theoretically, I should be able to sell my tranny for ~$1200.
Any thoughts?<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1885920.phtml">more info on Euro tranny</a></li></ul>

hmm, perhaps we are talking about slightly different gearboxes...
But last year then I did research on Klug (sp?) gearboxes, it did not come with oil cooler, just connection for it. I don't recall anything particular about differential. Also, I been warned that it would not be a strait forward bolt-on, some minor modifications/swap of stock parts needed. Stasis is a big company and I felt more secure with them. At the end it is cheaper too. Don't forget that only Stasis would value bad gearbox at $1000+, no one else would pay close to that for the pile of parts.

What defines a bad gearbox to them? Mine for example has always been notchy 1-2
with an occasional cold grind.
I'm just wondering what the possibility is of it being marked as "bad" and forfeiting the core charge when I could just complete the rebuild on my own.
For me, it's a time/labor savings to go with a prebuilt unit, but I don't want to get screwed on the core charge.

mixed feelings regarding the link
I have a rs4 tranny and it has the same first gear as my S4 only 3rd and 4th are shorter. I used the same spacer and it fits just fine.
I got it used for 1850eur but it's not hardened in any way.
I'm going to put the S4 trans back as its faster to shift. I'll try to swap the torsen though.
What are you going to do with the oilcooler if you get the euro tranny? the lines from tranny go to the rad that has two openings for the oilcooler lines!

I have RS4 radiator....therefore built in oil cooler.
The different here is that this is not just an S4/RS4 tranny, it's an AudiSport tranny.
Basically, think about it as a Stasis tranny that starts with an Euro RS4/S4 tranny.
