Fender/Bumper gap fixed! Old gap 1st.

Anyways, I always hated the bumper to fender gap that came from my engine pull & TB job. It seems to be a common issue with the B5 bumpers due to their somewhat complex attachment system (B6's are simple). I looked up one tutorial on how to fix it and tried it out. It really was pretty easy. Turns out my mounting brackets needed to be removed, then I whacked the metal plate into a place I dubbed "close enough" then torqued down the fender to radiator support that was loose. After that I put the mounting plate back on but held it UP as far as possible when I attached it to lessen the gap.

Repeat on other side.

Tighten down all loose body bolts and radiator support bolts (weird that they were all loose).

Removed a loose orange chunk of reflector in CC modded light.

Re JB Welded on a piece of Allroad Trim that pipped out from an Ice Boulder in a storm.

Put it all back together and it is about 90% better. I'm pleased with how it turned out. The sides of the bumper do not stick out at all anymore, the gap is uniform and smaller by about 2mm.

Just put this before your image address : <img src="

Then put this after the end of the address: ">

That is all there is to it. You're now a programer :-)

Are your intercooler cover inserts just open? Do you not get any rocks to fly...

...in there and dent the intercooler sheets?

Anyone knows how to replace those stock black plastic
parts of the insert with a mesh?

looking at your pics is making my bumper seem to stand out even more. thanks this sucks.

rennart did my timing belt and when they put the bumper back it looked like ****. they also broke a tab that seals the headlight housing and told me it was like that. wtf.

looks good dude. I'm likin what you did with the mesh

Just the center and then leaving the sides empty. I've been looking for something a little different to do to my bumper, and I may give that a try. Worst case, I can just thow mesh on the sides if I don't like it :-)

How many pieces of Allroad mesh did you use for the center section?

I can barely even see them around the fogs. It would be a pretty slim chance. I like em open.

Two. Get a dremel tool. Now get a second one when you blow out the first.
