Default Finally replaced my battery last night..........

Figured 4+ years is pretty good for an OE battery. Just went to Autozone and picked-up a Duralast 48DL. I have read in the archives that it is a perfect fit, 700CCA/875CA, and is only $65. Guess what, it's about an inch shorter than the OE (bad), and weighs 36# compared to the OE at 47# (good). The original took up the entire length of the battery tray, and used a strange looking tie-down that bolted in front of the battery, and wrapped around the side, with a weird handle looking loop on it. Of course, it would not work on the new battery. When I pulled the OE, I could see the usual bolt hole in the bottom of the tray, so I rigged up something to work using it. All the pictures of battery mounts I've seen on here seem to use the bottom hole, and not this weird clamp that was on mine. They must have changed them on the 2001.5 cars. Just a little FYI for everyone.

Mine is an early 01 and I had the same problem. I modded the bracket and turned it sideways

Default A lighter battery is most likely due to lighter/thiner plates, which I would expect means

a shorter life. Nice to have the weight savings though.

My early 2001 also had the battery fittment issue you described.

We'll see. It has a 7 year warranty. If it lasts another 4 years, I'll be happy.
