Default First sign of tranmission going bad?

Ive been having some trouble with first gear not wanting to mesh completely without a little double clutching. I have no problems at all with the reverse gear which i thought would be the first thing to start mucking up.

Any insight? TIA

I would check the linkage first like everyone says when tranny problems come up.

Default Sounds like your first/second slider gear going out...relatively common on the B5 S4

When I crewed for Istook...Don repaired this in about 5-6 hours straight...yes, the tranny has to come out.
