Former B5 S4 owner looking at getting another..... need opinions
Car #1: 2001 S4, Audi CPO warranty, 30k miles $28,500 at a dealership
Car #2: 2000 S4, United Car Care aftermarket warranty, 37,500 miles $25,000 private seller. Turbos were replaced at 16,000 miles and has the newer version w/ the larger inlets. Owner is a AW memeber & really took care of the car.
Both cars have the same options of Bose, Premium, heated seats. Both in excellent condition and basically have 2 more years of warranty.
My questions are: is it worth the extra $$ for the 2001 (I think it gets ESP and that's about it) and is the Audi CPO warranty better then United Car Care? Anyone have United's warranty or familiar with it? TIA

*edited* I will be modding.
I would think a dealer would let a chipped car slide through an aftermarket warranty if you blew turbos easier than an Audi CPO car.

I wouldn't give too much value to the 3rd party warranty. $25k sounds really high for a 2000...
from a private owner. That said, do you want ESP? That could be a deciding factor. Also, does the 2000 have aluminum or steel front uprights? That's a pretty good weight savings on the 2000's that have the aluminum ones.

Not sure about the steel or aluminum uprights. I forgot about that controversy!
I remember when I got mine in January of 2000 and everyone was gonna sue Audi over them. :-)
ESP isn't much of a consideration. Just another button for me to turn off but is a noce safety feature. I don't have it in my RWD Boxster and probably don't need it in an AWD Audi.

# 1....
due to its certified from audi. i paided 28700 for a 01 audi cpo 45k premium package in jan of 04, now its worth 16-18k trade in. according to edmunds the stealership one is worth roughly 25800 certified. i wouldn't pay a penny more than 24.5k, give them a low ball number what's the worst they can do say no! trade in, that car is worth 19100 and you know damn well that the dealership didn't give the previous owner more than 19k, at best the dealership probably paid 18500 tops.
the used car market is horrible right now

w/ regards to the ESP, I more mentioned it as some people really like not to have it at all...
as it can't really be turned off. I got here way too late to remember the aluminum/steel upright controversy.
