Default found decent shop for corner balancing ohlins

I went over to check out Race Prep Motorsports today and knew I was in a decent shop when I saw a box full of hyperco springs in the front office. They have corner balance scales but the guys were using them at Daytona and weren't back yet. I spoke with the owner's father in-law for awhile. He told me the crew chief drives an older Audi.

They have a Porche GT3 and the owner's personal (newer) 911tt sitting in the shop. The front and rear bumpers of the 911 were removed, and the plastic side panels were all cracked. He said the owner had it on a track and went off so hard it bent part of the frame structure when it landed! What a shame..

Is $80 for corner balancing a decent price?

Default price is good, have you had an alignment?

If you're running the OEM control arms, a corner balance will affect camber settings.

So your best bet is to have the car corner balanced, then have an alignment done and make certain the alignment shop does not change ride height.

Or better still, have the same shop do both.

Default Here's the plan, including evil thoughts of widening front fenders

I'll have them corner balance, then get firestone to do an alignment. I already paid firestone for a multiple alignment package, so I should use them. Yea, using stock control arms the camber will change w/height but isn't adjustable, right? I'll need to tell the firestone guy to disregard the camber.

I also spoke with the body shop next to RPM today about widening the front fenders (more than just rolling the fender lip). They said to expect around $1500 total with metalwork and paint. 235-40-18 will clear w/rolling the fenders but custom work would allow 255/30(35?)-18. I don't know if 255's will clear the rear fenders though, using my 30ET LMs.

I stopped by another body shop earlier today with a big sign on the building reading: "Custom Body Shop". I told them what I wanted with the front fenders and was told they don't do custom fender work. WTF?? I asked the guy what the name of their shop was and left.

Default yes, tell firestone to not worry about front camber or ride height front/rear...

...and to set rear camber according to front (some percentage reduction that you want).
