Default Frank...Update on "Shine"'s sport springs-

Yeah, yeah...Same old line from Eli.

"In the works, but not done".

He did "allow" that with the racing season slowing drastically in the next few weeks, they would be paying more attention to the springs, and hopefully coming up with a beta version within the next month. The one bright spot in our conversation was that he estimated about a 1/2 to 3/4 inch drop on the S4, versus about 1" on the A4. I assume that means he is designing the spring rates to match the A4 frame, and honestly, I don't know if that will have any major ramifications towards their effectiveness on the S4. Plus I drive an Avant, so add an additional 100 pounds for me, in addition to the xtra for an S4 over an A4 with quattro. Hmm...

Another tuner is developing private label sport springs which should be a more standard 1.2 or 1.3 inch drop, and coupled with Koni's, it's supposed to be a pretty comfortable(ride-wise) and performance-oriented set-up. Price is likely to be moderate(under $200), but they are not out quite yet. I'm not at liberty to divulge the name of the tuner as of yet from what I was told, but if you are interested, I'll keep you updated. I'll call Eli in a couple of weeks to get an update on those springs as well, and maybe there will be a happy ending to this after all. Keep your fingers crossed, but don't hold your breath:^)

For what it's worth I've also talked to Dick and Eli, and am waiting to hear about coilovers and a sway bar, Kinda like the real street kit they now sell. I'm glad to hear i'm not the only one bugging him. If we get organized we might be able to get a group buy together? I believe that he will need a guinea pig to help figure out bump steer and rice characteristics and the like.My .02
