Default Is this a front wheel bearing kit?

I thought front wheel bearings were just a plain old bearing you press into the hub. This one came pre-pressed into some sort of a carrier. This is to replace my front left wheel bearing.

The label on the box said it's rear wheel bearing and the vendor I bought it from says it's for the front.

If someone could clear this up I'd be happy.

Thanks.

Default So since the bearing is already pressed into some sort of a hub, I don't need to use a press to

install it? It's quite literally, a "bolt on?"

Default I don't know, I would think the hub still needs to be pressed into the bearing . . .

the nice thing is you don't have to take the entire upright off the car . . . or buy the special tool to do it on the car . . .

Those are for steel uprights, not aluminum.

Wow, I had no idea they were so different. Mike, do I need a press for this install or is bolt-up?

Default You'll need to press the hub into the bearing.

Make sure you support the inner bearing so it doesn't get pushed out the backside.

The bearing is a tight fit on the upright, but you shouldn't need a press to get the old one off, nor the new one on.

Default You mean that one will need a press if one wishes to replace the bearing in the removable carrier.

But the part pictured by Jacob should bolt right up. So for him, no press needed.
