Default fuel?

2001 audi s4 b5
Ok, im going a little crazy with this. I drove my car to the store and shut it off for 10min it then would not start. I had it towed back and noticed the fuel pump was not kicking on. Checked the relay under the dash (good); checked the fuse (good); and getting power at the pump. Then the pump started working and my car would start. I drove it to the gas station 15 miles away put gas in it and then it wouldent start. Messed with the pump and it started working. Drove another 3 miles shut it off and it stated right back up (2 times started good one being 3 hrs later). Then would not start again fuel pump would not kick on even with me playing with the pump. Had it towed again, took out the pump and hooked it up to another car battery. Ive tried everything to get this pump not to work and everytime I put the batt to it it works. Now put it back in the car and the car runs.

The car has never cut out while driving or broke down on me while driving. Its only wint start if i shut it off. I have a new pump on the way but i do not think that its the pump.

Any suggestions

If it starts fine in morning/cold, but only fails to start when warm, there is a chance that the CPS crank position sensor is bad. Common issue.

That said, your description could also be a bad pump. My pump failed after a few months of hard starting, but always would eventually start until total failure.
