Default FYI post...last weekend installed Autospeeds Phenolic Spacers and...

Spal EFK w/ Flex-A-Lite VSC, Achtuning OCK, Allroad P/P Intake Mani w/ 02 fuel rail, p/p throttle body, Avalon IC mister kit(still needs to be tweaked). Everything seems to be running OK, but may have to put a bigger resistor in to lower adj. settings on the VSC. Currently the fan kicks on at 91-92 degrees where before the 3.3K resistor it kicked on at 98-99 degrees. Cools it down good though...and for the good part. The Phenolic spacers cut down heat:
Before:
Outside temp(per display):102
IAT's (VAG 004): 68-70

After w/ Phenolics:
Outside temp:102
IAT's: 54-56

So a bit of a drop...just wanted to share.

Are those IATs at idle or while driving?

Default Driving...but at the same heat on the same parts of Hwy 65...Idle showed

the same...anywhere from 12-16 degrees cooler...I couldn't get a time of day where the temp was the same. I got really lucky when driving.

Default Aww, thanks for sharing ;-)

Did my spacers and another car here Monday, although its tough to get enough heat in it when yer stock to see much diff lol. Ported both manis and could tell a little diff in boost actions - took the ecu a few pulls to get the new little spike out of there. Guess thats a good thing to see =-)

On another note - the LaBrees helped the other car a good bit. Was 100deg here with high humidity Monday and it just pulled and pulled(Stg2+ APR, Milltek 3") like it was 70ish. Needless to say can't wait to get mine up with the LaBrees and K04s now...

Default Those cars have ICs? Thats where you will REALLY tell the difference! And no prob. for...

sharing. Isn't that what this forum is supposed to be about. And I'm sure I'll be hittin' you up for info on the RNS-E system if I can ever afford one! HAHA...When is your car being transformed?

Default I was surprised. Car feels like it has a little bit more low end grunt to it with...

those and the newer manifold. Now to get the IC mister kit dialed in and have the car tweaked by Quynh on the dyno! Oh, and the resistor in parallel...I'd go a little bigger...maybe a 6.6Kohm. Just because it kicked on at lowest pot setting at 99 degrees with out, then after the resistor at 92-93...so if you want that 87 kick on point maybe knock that resistor value up. On cold mornings, like today, it kicked on at 93 cuz I think the front of the VSC temp probe was cold...but in the afternoon/eve. heat it kicks on earlier...I may tweak with it this weekend and put a 6.6K in.

Default Did you put the little cover on the probe? That helps a bit. I've also noticed quite a bit of

variance in the lowest setting on the vsc(between different vscs), but I'm not sure if that's a sensor issue or a controller issue. I actually run a pot on mine in parallel. ;-)

Default Maybe I just put it in wrong? I took the resistor and put one end in the connector to the..

VSC probe and then splice into the wire in the other end of the resistor. Or should I have went connection to connection on the VSC for the probe. The cover is on...but they say on the trobleshooting sheet that ccw to turn down the temp...I turn it cw to get it to kick on earlier. So I'm confused on that. Or it just kicks on at 100%. Like I said, needs to be tweaked, but I had to get it running and didn't want it overheating.

It should be ccw to lower the "on" temp. Weird.
