I was making a left turn from Olympic onto Beverly Dr. and it's an unprotected left turn. I made a left when the lights was yellow and about to turn red, but I didn't see the car coming until my friend said "car car", but it was too late. The car hit me on the rear quarter panel. My question is not about how much I am at fault, but that is the impact huge enough to set off the side airbags for the rear passenger? My friend was in the back and the rear airbags did not deploy. You could see the white powders, but that's about it. I've linked a picture.

Default that sucks, big time.

if some white powder was showing, make sure you werent hit by some drug cartel delivery van. then id go to the dealer to see if the air bags are half deployed or somthing, if they are and malfunctioned, have your friend sue the pants off audi for his arm being hurt.

and if either of you feel bad about suing audi, do it anyways then give the money to guys on here who have been screwd by AoA.

Default So which airbags deployed and left the powder? We don't have rear side airbags except for the head

curtains, which run the full length on each side.

Unless it's different for '01 or '02 cars?

The power maybe from the seatbelts. Some have explosives that lock the belt.

Default The explosives in the seat belts help to take up any slack in the belts....

From the Model Guide:

* Front 3-point safety belts with automatic pretensioning and height adjustable upper mounts

* Rear outer seat 3-point safety belts with automatic pretensioning (Sedan only)

* 3 rear seat 3-point safety belts with automatic pretensioning (Avant only)

Default From the looks of where you got hit, you were farther into the intersection than the oncoming car.

Shouldn't he have slowed down to stop for the yellow/red?

Sorry, I don't know what to make of your seatbelt problem. If you ask me, it should have deployed on impact.

Hope everybody is ok.

Default I beleive the person making the turn in this case is always at fault.

Unless the light was red for the person going straight.
