Default Got pulled over last night, arrg...

Going down Linton Blvd. in Delray Beach Florida at around 10 o'clock at night, and I get pulled over doing 61 in a 45 zone. Now this is a two lane road in both directions, no traffic at 10 at night, and the cop swings around from the other side and comes after me. Oh no. I didnt even realize I was going that fast! But it also didnt help that I had not seen the 45 MPH sign either. Luckily, the cop went easy on me and only gave me a warning. He was like:

Walks up
Officer: "Son, you realize you have a very powerful car"
Me: "Um, ah..Yes I do Officer"
Officer: "Did you know you were doing 61 in a 45 MPH zone?'
Me: "Uh, no I didn't sir"
Officer: "Lets take this puppy out for a spin kid, lets see how it does against my squad car! (JK!)"
Officer: "Could I see your license and registration please?"
Me: "Uh yeah, here you go"
Officer walks back to car, comes back 5 minutes later.
Officer: "I'm going to let you off tonight son, if you get pulled over again though, you most likely will get a ticket. I just want you to know that 3 people died on this road just a couple weeks ago, be careful."
Me: "Thank you very much officer, have a good night"

Driving 5 MPH under the speed limit all the way home. AHHHH !

Well, I consider myself lucky, considering my age and so on. Phew!<p> - Tim Reibling

Default Hey, how old are you? They weren't nice to ME!

But I *was* doing 27mph over the limit that night going home from daytona beach. Actually that's what I was doing when he caught me. I'll stop now. Maybe down souther you have better (not as jackass like) cops?

I'd love to see a S4 vs Squad Car race. I know I can leave them behind in my S4, but the roads were never open and I had places to go other than prison those days. Weeee!<p>Jessica K

Default You really think you can leave a squad car behind???? Why aren't you sharing your drugs?

Squad cars are modd'd to hell and back. That crown victoria you see.. all that's left of it is pretty much the shell and frame. They've usually got upgraded engines (if not supercharged V8's), upgraded suspension, transmission, and lots of other "sions" as well.... And they have all wheel drive too.

I've seen one of those things accelerate... as he pulled out to snag someone... It really was surreal. I have NEVER seen something move that fast. Then again, I've never seen the true exotics... but... the s4 isn't an exotic.

Unless your car's crazy

Default nope nope nope....Police pkg info... (long)

ok here is tyhe deal with police pkg cars... I am in police academy so i have the info...
Old crown vics (the square ones were souped up alot im not sure how much since they aent used anymore and we dont have any here)

the crown vics of todays police pkg include not much....differnt suspension (still is a boat) and an exhaust...new rear end gears...and an analog speedo....thats all...still slow

The mustangs of today are special...they ARE souped up...some have chargers some dont.... and they all have some help with the suspension

Expiditions...these are also souped up...some with lightning engines and some with V10s... from the excursion.... still most are just a stock 5.4liter

now onto chevy
the "impala" (yuk) i dont know about...its ugly and its normally aspirated...thats all i know we just got them...

the Tahoe/ suburban....these things got the biggest freaking engine in them...they got the 7.4 Gas engine in them normally some are stock but most have 7.4s from the 2500 suburban..

Camaro...
WOW
all i can say is these things have the last generation vette engine (C4 i guess it was called)
and these engines are souped up alot... ive seen one of our state troopers burn out going after a speeder...

now....
the police pkgs also have other goodies like heavy duty EVERYthing...and some other stuff that isnt perfomance related.

anything else that you have actually seen was a modified car..not from the factory...like the charged vettes...ford just dosent do them...

Default Yeah, cop cars are nothing special...

...in fact the Crown Vic is a torque needing dog around town.

The Mustang is nothing special. It doesn't have a supercharger (I'm assuming that's what you are calling a "charger").

Police packages today are nothing more than heavy duty radiators, alternators, and a slightly tighter susp. As far as the Tahoes having 455s that must have just started this year since Car and Driver tested one last year and it had the normal 350 (no 4x4 either).

Most Caprices come with the Vette LT1.... But remember there is a radio, and you can't out run that.

Default Squad cars weigh about 5000 lbs due to extra gear.

Plus they are running on POS tires and they are set up to understeer like a pig. Speaking of which, most cops can't drive either.

Any S4 would walk away from a squad car. Problem is, you can't outrun radio.<p>'00 Silver S4
