GRRRRR....
5 more miles until I break the 1k barrier. I've already bumped into the rev limiter 2 miles ago in a sudden loss of rationality when a mustang was being playful.
I gotta tell you adrenaline junkies, I am really liking this car. It feels almost as strong as the stage 3, and certainly has a MUCH better clutch action. Off the line, and down low the stock torque is more than anything I felt with the stage 3 (unless I dropped the clutch on a high rev); what I can do at 1800rpm, I would need to rev up to 3k on the stage 3. Yes I know ours is a pig compared to the A4 (read lighter, more nimble), but on the street, I get most of the power (enough for me at least), and no somewhat strung out feeling. quiet. smooth. reserved. Needs serious suspension tweaks. The best part is, it just feels nicer inside.
It does take longer to rev thru the band. The stage 3 would be at redline in a blink. The S4 takes noticably longer. It really is not as quick feeling in the turns, but then I had a few tweaks on the stage 3 at the time. The 1.8 is a MUCH easier engine to tinker with in the garage though. I pop the hood on the S4, and I just stare and blink. I guess time with Bentley will help. I know the 1.8 very well; this will be a new learning curve.
Just thought I'd share. Just my insights. This car ROCKS.

Not following.
I had a A4 1.8 with APR stage 3 kit, big brakes, springs/shocks, exhaust, blah blah. I now have a stock S4.
In terms of the "feel", they are close, with a serious (for me at least) edge going to the S4 for the silty bottom gobs of torque. My daily driving situation makes that a lot more satisfying. The A4 I had had MUCH MUCH better handling. So that is what I wanna study up on for the S4.
