Default H&R Coilovers

I just got my H&R street coilovers from tirerack.com and have already had them installed. However, I have a few questions:

- the front springs have the correct part # (29471) but the rears have "dual" part numbers. Both (29471 and 29591) are on the rears. So the S4 has the same spring rate in the rear as the A4 but higher up front?

- the shocks said they are for "A4/S4 application", will the shocks be able to dampen the stiffer front springs for the S4?

- I heard a recent batch of springs were recalled by H&R. What was wrong and How do I know I have the right kit (I think I do...)

- last but not least, the spring rates for the H&R vs. stock

Apart from that, I am still waiting for it to settle a bit but the ride is very smooth (I am used to a much harsher ride) and the handling is HUGELY improved from stock. Because I expected it to have different shocks from the A4, the ride is a little bit bouncy but just very little.

I will get some pictures once I get my car cleaned.

the part numbers were stamped in white on the red springs. I cross-ref that with the part # on the H&R site. There were no indentifiable part numbers on the shocks themselves but there was a sticker on the shocks that said for "A4/S4".

Default I have the same numbers on the rear...

That would make sense, as the S4 carries its weight gains on the front of the car.

Default My A4 coilovers (part #'s).

Sitting on the garage floor...the shock bodies have a sticker indicating A4 quattro (no S4 mentioned).

Springs...front say 29591 HA (built 8/2000)
rears say 29591 VA (built 8/2000)

AWE had H&R drop ship these to me about 1 month ago. Hope that helps!

Default Thanks, it makes sense now...

So that is the difference, your shocks just says A4 Quattro but mine says both so it just means both A4 and S4 can use the coilovers for the S4.
