Had fun with an Eclipse this morning. Took this Chump to the woodshed...
I was coming off an entrance ramp onto a 6 lane highway when this lowered, black Eclipse w/ smoked windows and gawdy chrome wheels starts accelerating to not let me in. I eased up due to my engine oil not above 150 yet.
But... when we met two intersections later, oil was warm, traffic light red, we were both in front of our lanes, me left, him center. I looked over to let him know "It's on" but his windows were so dark, I couldn't get confirmation. When the light turned green, I knew it was a go. I heard his tires screech, Quattro walks away effortlessly. I had at least 10 car lengths on him in 1/8 mile, could tell after a 1/4 mile. Hit the flashers momentarily, and eased off as I was catching up to traffic ahead.
This clown zooms past when I'm back down to 60 mph and weaves in/out of traffic like a maniac to stay ahead of me. I let him go.
But he knows, "Don't mess w/ that black grocery-getting station wagon with the 4 rings on the tailgate... ;-)

Try that with an awd Eclipse...
And he will give you the smack down
Sadly most Eclipses are crappy neon engines in a flashy body (actually 85% of them are just that). 5% however are awd turbo sleepers that can beat modded supras on a good day. My mid 12 second 90 Eclipse also has the advantage of getting 28mpg when driven sanely. Only problem is the S4 is SOOOOO much more comfortable to drive.
