Going colder refers to the heat transfer capacity of the insulator only. --->
Plug related detonation would require the plug to glow. Even a plug that's too hot wouldn't glow. On the contrary, the hot plug would burn off any carbon deposits better than a cold one..

That's why I have to drive it hard every day:)
I'm afraid the colder plugs will foul out sooner if I drive without using the boost on my short 10 mile (30-45mph zone) drive to work every day.
