Are you referring to the lower center or sides...In any event I did both.
The sides were easy since the grills come off. The center was a bit more challenging. I did mine without removing the bumper skin.

A picture(s) is worth a thousand words....
I took some pics of the lower grill mod with the removal of the center bar on the outer grills.
The mesh modification is the easier part of the project, the center bar removal is a bear...
I choose to remove the stock black mesh from the frames to avoid damaging the frames. If you careful in removing it you will have no problem reinstalling them later. Do this by grinding down the tabs on the back of the mesh. (The mesh is held to the frame by plastic tabs on the frames that are inserted into slots in the mesh and then melted. Grind the melted tabs off and pull the mesh from the frames. Put the frames aside.)
You will then see that the mesh has a fram of it's own. It is the section that has the slots in it.
Once the mesh is out, I use a coping saw to cut the mesh from the narrow frame around the outer edge of the mesh leaving the only the fog light surround.
I use a rotory sanding tool in a Dremmel to remove all remnants of the stock mesh and to shape the section below the fog surround to a more pleasing shape.
Next you will have to be a bit creative in trimming the RS4 mesh to fit the stock mesh frames. It is too long and needs to be trimmed to legnth. The height is perfect after you trim the tabs from around the outside of the new mesh.
I used cyanoacrelate glue to secure the trimmed rS4 mesh to the mesh frame and the same glue to reinstall the new mesh nserts into the stock frames.
This is the abridged version...
I have made numerous sets. It now takes me about two days to do the center bar removal (without paint) and about an hour to do the mesh inserts.
Email me if you have other questions or want to arrange for me to do a set for you...<ul><li><a href="http://www.shutterfly.com/osi.jsp?i=67b0de21b308aef9254e">Lower Grill Mod Pics</a></li></ul>
