Has anyone tried using octane booster? good or bad?

I wouldn’t waste my time/money unless you have had pre-ignition...
we ran 100 octane race gas in our S4’s when we went to Pomona because the temperature was going to be so high, the threshold for pre-ignition was alot lower. Octane is simply a measure of it’s resistance to detonation (igniting before the sparkplug has fired due to high combustion chamber temperatures). The reason cars with chips that specifically use 100 octane gas are more aggressive is because the safety margin between ignition and pre-ignition is somewhat higher with 100 octane so the timing etc can be more aggressive.
Unless you are going to a track or drag session, I wouldn’t waste my time. There is no noticeable performance difference driving on the street and some of those additives may have adverse effects on materials used within the engine and hoses...you can never be sure.

100 octane also throws off the Throttle Adaptation....stock and chipped
The first time i put in 100 octane, i was the happiest kid in town with stock ecu. for 4.50 per gallon, i could be Frank Biela on the streets. But then after the tank disappeared, the car did'nt have such a great punch......
Then i added some salsa to the mix and put 100 octane in.....WHOA what a difference!! It's like a drug, it costs less than bottled water....but when going back to the ol' 92 octane......it felt......bad.
At that point i fianally VAGged it and found that the throttle adaptation was erronious....cleared it....and boom. Back to normal.
I guess what i'm trying to say is that in my experience, 100 octane gas (or gas treated with boosters) is going to advance the timing in the engine by way of the ECU....but for some reason my car did'nt want to re-learn it with crappier gas.....
-Cheng

Re: Has anyone tried using octane booster? good or bad?
When my turbos whewre replaced, it was reported to me that the turbos had a "red glass-like glaze" on the turbines..
Having previously run octane booster with these results, I'd stay away from it.
