Headlight and interior dome light flickering
Hi, Just wondering if this is normal. I've parked my car for a while in storage, disconnected the battery. Yesterday I reconnected the battery to start the car and it didn't start so I jumped started it. Unfortunately I think I crossed the "+" and "-" for a few seconds before I noticed it. The jumper cables got really hot so I disconnected it and reconnected it correctly and jump started the car.
It runs fine and has no problems other than I noticed that at idle the interior dome light and the xenon headlights flicker. When I give it some gas to 2k rpm the both flickering lights go away. While I'm driving (rpms >2k) - no flickering. I thought it was a bad alternator or battery so I took it to Checkers and they tested both the alternator and battery to be ok. So is this flickering normal and I never noticed it until now?
Thanks for all your help.
Paul

Could be that the terminals are not clean and you need a better connection to the battery
I had a loose wire going to my positive terminal and experienced the exact same problem. I would first check to make sure your battery terminals are clean, and that the leads to each are secured tightly to the terminals. Once you check that, if the problem persists, you could potentially have a bad ground. Good Luck!

tried cleaning the terminals - still flickers ...
Thanks for the help. Sounded like that was the ticket but unfortunately didn't work. Along the same lines I wonder if the wiring (ground or positive wires) got damaged when I had the jumper cables on backwards for a few seconds. The negative and positive wires look ok from outside... Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Paul
