Headlight Issue

Headlight Issue
I have a 2013 S4 with about 30k miles and just yesterday while I was driving an alarm went off notifying me that the bulb for my driver side headlight is out. I shut the car off a little bit later and when I restarted the car the headlight worked for about five minutes and then the same alarm went off and the light was out.
Is this common?
Also the daytime running LED's are working okay. Does anyone know if it's legal to run at night without risk of getting pulled over with the LED's running and one headlight out?

No, it's not common. Head lamps should last longer than 3 years or 30K miles. While it's possible the lamp has burned out, you could also have a wiring issue. I would expect you can get this covered under warranty.
Unfortunately, most, if not all, states require that both head lamps be operable - DRLs or parking lights don't count. You might get away with it for awhile but eventually, some officer of the law will stop you. Get it fixed - not only to avoid a ticket but for safety,

yeah I don't want to leave it as is for sure....just getting the car into the dealer is a pain in the neck of course
I was afraid something is wrong just by virtue that the light comes on when the car is started...and was hoping there might be an easier fix. Oh well I'll have to bring it in.
Thanks for the help.
