Heard a "whooshing" sound coming from the engine today...
I started to hear this sound today, not too loud but noticable. It covers the normal sound of the turbos. Its like a deep rush of air sound, most audible when the windows are closed. I hear it from about 2800 rmps up to about 3500 or so. The wierd thing is that i hear it kind of "blow-off" when I let off the gas real quick, kind of like when my DV's went, but not the same sound.
Any ideas what it may be? Not early signs of turbo failure is it? I'd appreciate some feedback, thanks.

Sounds like many posts describing same and (more)...
...the consensus was usually that the diverter valves had taken a dump... (no pun intended). There has been a variation in the description of noises.
If the Turbos have "gone" then there is usually low power and is often if not always accompanied by some smoke billowing from the tailpipe (oil burning) and often preceeded by an obvious and distinct "dentist drill" type noise which is turbine blades contacting metal (or FOD) and becoming bent or mishapen (STA on this, there is much there).
The whoosh could also be a loose or disconnected hose within the turbo system... or leaking IC(s)... do a pressure test (STA for the homemade pressure tester).
It is around $35 each for 710N's. I hope if you have a problem...that it is the dv's. Easy and cheap to fix as you probably know.
Good luck with it...
I have not had this happen yet... but I have nightmares about it frequently...
That is all.

Thanks for the info, but I changed my DV's to Hyperboost ones, I didn't think they would crap out...
Is it possible they did? Like I said, the sound is not the same as when my stock DV's went. Couldn't be the TBB could it? Maybe a loose vacuum hose or something? Just to be safe I'm gonna have a tech at the dealer listen to it today.
