Default Help - ABS coming on randomly

First I STFA, but couldn't find anything describing the problem I'm having.

A few months back my car started having ABS stop feel to my breaking when I am making a fairly slow stop (like to a stop sign or light). The pedal would slide to the floor and then ABS would kick in and make for a fairly violent, shuddering stop. My first thought was bad master cylinder because of the pedal going soft, replaced that. Better for half a day, then the problem was back. It seems like the ABS is coming on randomly, because I notice that sometimes when I'm accelerating the ABS will kick on when it shouldn't - like during routine acceleration. The problem happens even with ESP turned off. Now the ABS light is coming on when it seems the car gets sick of fighting with itself. When I check the car for codes there is nothing (of course), so I'm not sure what this could be.

I'd like my last resorts to be 1. Going to the dealer :-) 2. replacing ABS pump 3. replacing ABS electronics since I've already replaced a $200 master cylinder that didn't need it.

TIA for the diagnostic help!

Default can you "talk" to your abs thru vag?

my abs module is dead and I can't communicate with the system at all. I know this doesn't help much, but at least you may be able to rule that out.

Default speed sensor is bad, or the tone ring on your axle is cracked.... i had the same issue

im guessing your tone ring on your axle is cracked. get a raxles.com axle for like 180, then use the writeup trick to change your axle in 30 mins without needing to touch the pinch bolt

before doing this, log speed sensors in vagcom

When the module goes out, ABS will not enable. His is enabling too often.

Default i dont know which block it is, search around for it ... but

log the speed while ur going like 10mph and look at the vagcom readings (but also focus on the road, dont crash!) - the values should all match. if 1 is just not reading, then you know the sensor is dead. if they all match and work, then its your tone ring

oh and by the way, YOURE WELCOME /nick burns SNL
