Default Help I hit a pot hole...Stupid Question to follow

Ok with out going into details sunday, I hit a pot hole @ 40mph. After the initial damning of the NJDOT, I did a damage assessment.

Aligmnent seemed to still be dead on. No squeeking or odd noise coming from front end. Steering wheel still center and on visual inspection no damage to lower control arm and no sidewall bubble. Only problem is there is a slight vibration at speeds >50MPH.

So my dumb question is.... Could a pot hole throw off the balance of a tire? If it couldn't any other ideas what it could be? I'd assume if the wheel bearing or CV joint were to be damaged there would be a pull, a squeek or something.

And yes I realize there are no such thing as a dumb questions, just dumb people...

Default I knocked a weight off a wheel in my last car

That might be it. Also, the Avus wheels seem prone to being knocked out of round. I had a blowout on one of my blowtenzas and the wheel afterwards was slightly out of round.

You might want to inspect the tire. Sometime when you hit a pot hole, the metal threads in the tire can be knocked off alignment. If this is the case, you might see a little bulge on the side of the tire.

Default Thanx all, I'm gonna get gonna swap wheels and see if it fixes it... Although ...

I wonder if I should just consider the vibration a free option. There is apparently a demand for vibrating heated seats...

Default Same problem but wheel was bent

The avus wheels tend to bend fairly easily. I had the same problem, but both right side wheels where bent. It is fairly easy to notice once the wheel is pulled off the car. Just look at the inside diameter.

I had the wheel re-trued by a company in MD. It cost $150. I think their name was Transworld.
