Default HELP! Major 2nd Gear Problem

This is probably a repost, but I didn't find anything decent with a search.

Last night I was driving my car and went to downshift from 4th to 2nd. I had a hard time getting it into 2nd(I was going only about 40-45) so I shifted into third. I pulled up to a light, went to shift into 1st by way of 2nd, and it felt like I had mud in the transmission.

I thought it was maybe overheated or something, but it's still doing it this morning. Only second gear, I can get it into 2nd, but it's very "sticky" feeling. Any ideas???

Mine is in the shop right now for this. The theives that attemted to steal my car totally destroyed mine to the point that I had to beat it out of gear to get it on the flatbed.

Default What the hell? I wasn't hacking on the car ... it's only got 10,000 miles on it.

Audi should cover it, yes?

Default Sure thing. It is a common problem with the S4 6sp. Try working it back and forth for a bit.

It will loosen up. As you can see there are teeth on there that get out of shape. They will eventually get back into shape enough to loosen up. The problem is that the material is too soft. Audi has since supersceded this part with another made out of a harder compound.

Default Will they replace it with the new, harder part?

Thanks for the info ... my wife is going to flip. We're moving from Denver to Jacksonville TOMORROW and they're coming on June 5 to pick up the car. I don't have time to get it into the shop before we leave, so she'll have to put up with it until we get to Jax. I've heard Key Audi down there is pretty good.

Default You should be covered, just protect yourself though, make sure you're not chipped

or have any thing they can hold against you.. They can be either really easy going or a real PITA

Default Re: HELP! Major 2nd Gear Problem

Take it in for warrant repair, mine had the same problem in 1st and 2nd at 12k miles. Taner's did too, he is who told me what was up and that it was warranty repair. The new synchro sliders haven't had a problem.
