Help me understand K04s vs K04/RS6
I understand the RS6s have larger internals. If you ran the RS6s with an OTS fueling & software such as the AWE kit, would you basically be at the same hp but have a slightly more efficient turbo?
To fully take advantage of the RS6s would you need custom tuning? Is one more reliable than the other?
What is the hp difference between the two? AWE kit for K04s is about 450, what would RS6s be? Thanks and sorry for the n00bish question.

you need Specific tuning to get the extra power out of it.....if not, you are getting just the same
HP as a Vanilla K04 if you run it in conjuction with a K04 based kit. If anything, your spool up may be a "tad" slower so the car might actually be a hair slower off the line/boost. Just look at Zev and Bauers car from last years Euro Tuner GP. They both ran the same AWE fueling kit, Zev with PJ K04s and Bauer with K04/RS6. Both made about the same whp on the Dyno (436 Zev to 434 Bauer). The diff is that you can run more boost at a more effcient level with the K04/RS6 Brids', espcially if they have been optioned out correctly. If a K04 can run 20-21 psi comfortably, the K04/RS6 could run 23-24 psi comfortably, thus making more power, But again, you need the tuning to take advantage of this, or else it is to waste.

in all fairness you can't compare Bauer's car as a true K04/RS6 car......
it's not my place to give out details but just trust me that you can't use his "K04/RS6" setup as representative of our K04 based K04/RS6 hybrids.
Also in spoolup, the RS6 wheel is minimally heavier than the RS4 K04 wheel. The fact that it makes boost at a lower shaft speed than the RS4 K04 wheel more than makes up for any increase in lag over plain K04's. Note that most K04/RS6's have clearanced turbine housings as well.

good question mark!
I see you're considering other options
Not sure what you're looking for here...are you considering running hybrids on ko4 tuning or are you thinking of going all out hybrid w/ custom tune?
I think a custom tune at your altitude would be very beneficial with a hybrid setup...so long as your hardware is right
ygm regarding EPL

nothing to do with options......
i agree that proper tuning is key to extracting the power potential out of the hybrids, but there are advantages to them even running similar boost levels as a K04.
