Default HEX-COM or USB-COM for an S4 user?

I just ordered a new Dell Inspiron 600m laptop. It's got both a serial port and a USB port, so I was wondering which VAG-COM product would be best for an S4 user?

I'm interested in the ECU Explorer from APR and (maybe even) lemmiwinks.

Thanks!

Default I've had less headaches using the serial port...usb you have to download drivers and a bunch of crap

if you are good with the computer then USB should be fine. USB should be able to transfer data faster than the serial port afaik.

Default thats the computer my wife has.

I am all Mac so I have to beg her to let me scan my car. I have the Hex-usb. Works great but I cannot seem to get lemmiwinks to work using the serial port emulation. I had it once set up to use Lemmi with it but then the Vagcom didn't work.

Default From what I've read here, serial port cables seem to be less problematic.

People have had trouble getting Lemmiwinks and ECU Explorer to work with USB-based cables while the serial ones seem to work without issue.

I have a HEX-COM cable and it works fine with VAG-COM, ECU Explorer and Lemmiwinks.

Does it have two separate USB ports? Do you plan on using both VAG and Lemmi?

Go USB. You have to download a serial driver but that's easy

Yeah. Not to mention serial ports are starting to disappear.

If it were me, I'd use USB for ECUx and serial for lemmi/VAG
