Default Hey all, im from the A4 forum but have quick question. Best way to support CF hood when raised??

I am getting another A4 and it has CF hood but no way of supporting the hood. I was wondering if it is possible/or even good idea to install OEM hydraulic on drivers side. If it is even possible is it safe for hood?? Holding hood from about half way up on far side does not offer much support for the rest of the hood. Has anyone done or hear of making some sort of custom rod to hold the hood open? I know somewhat primative, but better than holding the hood with my arm! Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Default just put in 4 hood pins.. and remove the hood completely when needed. or is this for show?

if for show.. get a nice aluminum or CF rod done..

Default not for show, but Im not sure I would like the look of hood pins, not even sure i like the CF hood..

I might even try to find someone local who is interested in swapping their stock black 00-01 hood for mine (plus a few bucks probably) Someone on A4 forum just suggested looking for Jetta Manual stick and bolting it up somewhere up front. not a bad idea.

Default Someone mentioned that dampeners can actually cause the hood to warp upwards where they are hinged..

Not sure if entirely true, but kind of makes sense.

Default go to tree, ****** off branch of choice, strip of leaves, use as prop. If prop fails...

...you paid too much for a hood that weighs too much.
