hollow, rattling metal sounding noise when I accelerate
Anyone experience something like this? I have about 32k miles on my car.
This noise is separate from the normal sound from the turbos and can be heard in the background. It's not always on; it's only when I hit the gas.

Only when car is in gear, or does it do it neutral as well (while revving engine)? 2nd the bad cat.
I had this happen to an older non-Audi (Rustang) and the catalyst substrate disintegrated and was bouncing around inside the cat. Ceramic on metal makes one helluva sound. If only when car is in gear, then I would guess heat-shield.

i had a rattle too, it was the heatshield...
It only happened when i accelerated as well. i went to the dealer twice and both times they said they couldnt hear anything. When my synchros were replaced I had them look at it again and they finally fixed it. good luck
