Default How hard is it to replace the seals on the rear coolant crossover pipe? Part numbers for seals?

I've been having an ongoing coolant leak issue, have replaced the aux water pump already as well. It leaks slowly, but quite a bit when I have run teh heater. I can't see where the leak is coming form, but I can see it's running down the back of the engine, not onto the oil pan and I know there is no coolant under the intake manifold. So I guess you could say it's my best uneducated guess that this thing is leaking form that pipe.

Has anybody done this before? How much of a pain in the *** is it?

Default There are 4 seals well at least on my ar. It would be a pain to do in the car

I would imagine that you would have to remove the intake manifold so you can get to the 1 or 2 under there.

IIRC the allroad setup was slightly different than the S for some reason.

Once the intake manifold is out you would have to take out the 2 bolts in each head and then push the tube towards the back on the car to unseat it and then lift it out.

I think I saw 4 in a breakdown of the thing. So the manifold has to come off eh?

Default You can try it without, but I'm not sure if there is enough room to get out the portion

that goes under the manifold.

Worst case is that you can't get it out and have to take it off.

I don't have bently on this computer but maybe someone who does will chime in.

Default I'm just glad I don't have to pull the engine or something stupid

Any ideas how much the seals run?

Default Got mine from Carson at riverside. Just a few dollars. Not bad at all.

I replaced mine just as a precaution when my motor was apart since it is so much easier to do then.

Default I get wholesale prices from Audi so I'll get them locally and maybe start on it over the weekend

Any other precautions I should take? Intake manfold gaskets just in case maybe?
