Default Motor mounts are definitely a PITA, but the tranny mounts look pretty easy, no?

I've (with the help of Mark P) have done the motor mounts before... those sucked. But I haven't done tranny mounts yet. I'll be doing them very shortly though. Hopefully they aren't nearly as bad as the motor mounts.

Default You must have small hands.

pass side was very easy (had the front clip off for a timing belt job already. But the drivers side top nut was a HUGE pain in the *** to get to. Removing the inlet pipe and then trying to reinstall it was the major issue we had... just not enough room to work.

Default Where are you located? Would you (or anyone around Boston)

be willing to help me do MMs. I really only need to replace passenger side as it's been leaking for a while, but if it takes 45 mins I'd do both. I've got a heated garage and can get lots of beers and buffalo chicken calzone :-)

Default Ok thanks...do you have links to any writeups for the S4? also, how do you support the engine when

replacing them? can you use a long extension to get the top bolt?

Default how did you get to the top nut on the driver side?

even with the motor dropped a few inches, the inlet pipe lose, there's still not enough room

Default you must copy from me :), but I done my about 30-45 minutes for both side

for those of you want to know, save yourself a headache, don't try to turn the top nuts from the top. Get under the car, unscrew sway bar, put the jack under to support the engine, remove lower bracket sub-frame, get a nice heavy duty strap, strap it around the mount, get a short 13mm ( or 10mm I think) wrench and hold the top nuts, now turn the mount with the strap, it should turn and you have the mount out in no time
