Default How long should I anticipate for replacing the driver front door speaker?...

It's blown and I want to change it out for a fresh OEMer tonight. I STFA and, after 15 pages, couldn't find a time or a protocol. My eyes are blurry from searching. I think I need a beer...

Default 15 minutes.Remove the 3 screws on the door panel.Pull down the handle and remove the screw behind...

that. Lift the door panel up ^ and out. Watch for the little rubber stoppers that do in the door where the clips sit. The rest is simple. Unscrew the speaker, pull the wires, insert new speaker, re-assemble. It should take about 15 minutes.

Default How much and where did you get the OEMer? I need one too.

Been watching the classifieds and ebay for a few months and nothing :-( I don't feel like getting raped by the stealer on a stupid speaker.

I lucked out. Found a fellow AWer selling his car last summer and bought a whole set for ~$50

Default Lucky! Have an extra one laying around that you'd like to get rid of?

I can't imagine the right and left speakers are different.

Default Which one you need? Front door midrange? Hmm...

I'd love to help out a fellow AWer but I like having spare ones lying around for that inevitable speaker blow in the future. Let me sleep on it

Default Yep, front mid (the at the bottom of the door) Bose.

I'm willing to give ya more than half of what you paid for the whole set :-) I hear ya on the extra parts though, so no worries if you don't want to get rid of it.

Default What does the dealer charge for a new one? Just curious...

I'm not out to make money on this one - I'd just give it to you for free (plus shipping). I just want to know how much I would be set back if another one blew and I had to go to the dealer!

Default No idea actually. I never even bothered asking because they are so expensive with everything else

Just look at the o2 sensors... 150-200 for an Audi one, or get the same one from VW deal for $25. I don't even want to know what a bose speaker costs, haha. I can call tomorrow and check though.
