Default How much power do you really have........

Went and got my car dyno'd today. Very interesting. I recommend it to everyone. First, I was told that there is a huge variation in what the stock engine produces-anywhere from 235 to 265hp. Also, claims for any one performance part are usually exaggerated somewhat by the manufacturer. Finally, hp gains for claimed products are not additive. That said, here's what I got for numbers.... I'm running an ABT chip with Milltek downpipes/exhaust with K&N filter. Calculated max hp was 338 at 4700rpm. The power curve was pretty flat from 3700 to 5000 rpm. Peak torque was at 3200 rpm and was an astounding 467lb-ft. No joke! Peak boost was 18psi at 3800rpm. Air/fuel ratio indicated that I was running a bit lean between 3000-5000 rpm. Overall, the numbers are close to what I thought. Horsepower was a little less, torque a little more. Numbers at the wheels were 236hp and 327lb-ft torque with a 30% calculated driveline loss. All good stuff!!!!

Default big question - what dyno? Did you see the results from Adrenaline? They were all over the place..

Everything I've read on dyno's says that the Dynapak 4wd load dyno that APR has is the "dyno of the future". Right now, the most common one is the DynoJet (forgot the model, but it's the most common).

Anyway, when I was down at APR, I witnessed two S4's dyno'd at APR. It was on two different days and the first was definately cooler than the 2nd. The first was the APR 93 octane-specific chip for the '02 T ECU. chip only.
Wheels: 272HP, 340ft-lbs
Crank (18% loss): 332HP, 415ft-lbs

I don't recall the torque of the 2nd car, but it had the same chip (but for an M ECU) and AWE downpipes and Miltek exhaust.
It made 275HP at the wheels (335@crank)
