oops sorry meant to put more text in...
can you tell me what sort of problems you're having or why it needs to be reset? From what i've seen of the ECU you can use a link up to your pc to send it codes... but i think this voids warrenty, and can also screw your car up worse... if your ecu is perma-fried you might consider an mtm?

You can either pull the battery cable or......
....disconnect the two connectors on the ECU. Then reattach, leave key in the "On" position for 3 minutes or so.

Use of the VAG-COM software does not void any warranty.
It's doubtful that you'll "screw your car up worse" by using VAG-COM, although I suppose you could mess stuff up if you really tried.
