Default How to test for bad RS4 MAF?

I have thrown a couple codes:

17544 - Fuel Trim: Bank 1 (Add): System too Lean
P1136 - 35-00 - -
17546 - Fuel Trim: Bank 2 (Add): System too Lean
P1138 - 35-00 - -

One possible cause is a bad MAF. I have an APR Stage III kit, and the RS4 MAF is over $400 (ECS tuning). So, I'd like to be positive that's the problem before I go buy another. Is there a good way to make sure the problem is in the MAF? I did MAF logs, and the numbers don't look very strange (they are about 20 g/s lower than previous readings, but the temperature is also a good 20+ degrees higher).

Alternately, can I purchase only the sensor for cheaper than $400? Is it true that the S8 MAF sensor is the same (it has a different part number)?

Default No...

The S8 Housing in equal to the RS4 Housing.

The 2000 S4 Sensor (Bosch) is equivalnet to the RS4 Sensor.

---> is a different configuration than the S4 Bosch. What's the part#? I'll check tomorrow. TIA

Likewise, I have an APR Stage III kit, and the sensor is the same.

Default Actually I did a bit of research and Skydive is mostly right ...

I found the same RS4 MAF part 077133471K is exactly the same (sensor and housing) as also used on S6, S8. So you CAN pick it up from your local dealer.

But the best price on those puppies is $500 - Eck! <choking sound>

However it now appears there is also a rebuilt MAF 077133471KX which is now available at only $76 ! I'm digging into this a bit further to see if it's the real deal or not

BTW: S4 MAF's via VW parts network
078906461B (Bosch) $204 ($189 on ECS)
06C133471A (Hitachi) $271
