A friend put one in a TT recently, and it left him stranded about ten minutes after he put it in. I'm not sure what happened, but it fried. They sent him a new one ASAP, and he hasn't complained about anything since. I drove it once, it seems very close to stock smoothness, albeit with more oomph. Not too bad, but us S4's start with more power anyway, so I think we'd be more prone to seeing differences in smoothness b/c of that.
