Default I feel like having a meaningful discussion this afternoon... Chip tuning and full throttle and RPMs

What is the point of delaying the ability for 100% throttle with our cars?

What to you supose is the justification for the ever popular 4000-4200 rpm point?

What benefits would there be if we could go 100% at any rpm?

Whats problems would there be?

What is your opinion of the current trend with tuners to ignore the desire for many to have a open source type of chip?

Who would be intrested in a basic chip that you could heavily tweak knowing full well you will break stuff when and if you mess up?

Default Technically you could do a full EFI setup from 034 if you wanted to do your last option...

but I wouldn't condier that a basic chip.

I think the non 100% throttle is lame, cable driven cars have always been able to go WOT at any time. When I floor it, I am demanding 100%. I don't know what the effects of having that ability would be, but I just don't see how it could be all that bad.

Default so you're saying a chip that one would have full access to modify the software parameters of?

That would be awesome, but I doubt a tuner would ever sell somehitng like that.

Default 100% throttle ability? US only feature

I guess Audi engineers thought "uh, zees ist for amerikan markett, let's not gif zem 100% srottle until 4000 rpm, zen zey'll svear at us forever, muhahahahaha"

lol.

I dunno honestly, it IS an US only feature so I can't think of many reasons for it, apart from maybe higher chances of people running a "high performance" model on really cr@p fuel, thus higher chances of blowing it up quicker if they had 100% throttle at 2500 RPM as we do on Euro models.

On my own car I can get 100% at 1000 RPM if I want it but it doesn't make any difference to 2500.

HTH,

Mihnea

Default I did think about this but it's likely not gonna happen

Mainly because of time and financial constraints on R&D'ing such a thing.

It wasn't going to be "just a chip" but basically an open ME7 system with real time maps access and changes for anyone who's willing to spend some dough.

Not happening though...

Default that, and from a business perspective it doesn't make sense

it would be a legal liability againts anyone who craps their motor. anyone who bought it would need to sign a total waiver and there could not be any sort of product warranty.

Default Of course there couldn't be any warranty apart from the product itself ...

and the data provided, but this warranty could in no way include the engine.

I think anyone can buy ECUTek, and I just thought about doing the same thing for ME7 systems, however, an ME7 system, all the maps from the ECU and full real time memory access doesn't mean you can actually tune your car properly and not run into horrible problems, BTDT about 4 years ago when I had no clue what ME7 was but I did have access to all of the factory data on the maps that are stored in a chip.
