Default I got a check engine light for no apparent reason last night.....

I was about to leave the party so I started my car to warm it up. When I got back in, I noticed that the light was on. Of course, I didn't notice if it came on right at start-up. It ran just fine on the way home. When I pulled it in the garage, I let it idle for a few minutes and shut it off. About 5 minutes later, I started it again and the check engine light was still on. UGH!!

Shaka (on the TT forum - has a 225TTR) is coming over later with his little scan thingy (not a VAG) to try to check the codes. I guess we'll see....

For converstion's sake, I have the APR chip and no other mods. Any ideas?

Steve

Default 17536 or 17538 DTC's can also point to intermittent faulty readings on MAF....

i have had same codes for 5+ weeks on my car. have VAG and have checked and re-checked. car does run OK.
i had to pull my K&N (and NO, i do not over oil!! all air-path was clean.) and pulled Bailey BPVs to prove it is not these parts causing the codes/prob.
if gas and gas cap are ok, then could be MAF. that's what service manual points to for these codes.
mine goes in to (finally) get serviced and have this resolved this week.
i can email or post results.

It takes about 10 or so restarts before resetting.

Default I am experiencing the same thing...got a 16486 DTC.

16486 DTC is 'mass or volume air flow circuit low input.

Dealer is going to run some diagnostics on Tuesday, more than likely the problem is a bad MAF sensor. These have gone bad on cars with stock air filter as well as those with aftermarket air filters.
