Default I Have to Ask

It's been a few months since I have participated in the forum. I was wondering if anyone has brought his or her S4 in for service, chipped? If so any problems? I really want to chip my car but I'm afraid of any warranty issues that may arise.<p>Laser Red "00"

My GIAC chip worked it's way loose (it's socketed) and my car wouldn't start.

I didn't consider a chip problem, so I had the car towed to the dealer. Not only were they incapable of diagnosing the problem, they didn't have a clue about chipping (during towing, the chip had managed to get connected enough for the car to start again).

After I wised up (duh! the chip), I did a temporary fix myself (duct tape and styro peanuts). Then I took it back to DynoSpot, who fixed it better (fat foam tape).

In short: don't worry about it. Really. Stealers who know we chip are generally friendly about it. Stealers without clues are exactly that.

This is my first post ever on this site. Not sure why as I bought the car in October of 1999. Thought you all would get a kick out of this. Funny I have to install new coil packs and popped back on the forum to search how and then got a bit nastalgic and started looking through old posts. Anyway I’m outraged at the poor build quality of this car. 18 years and I have to shell out 300 bucks for coils and plugs.

Wow that is great, very nice to see an original owner here. Mine was built in July 99 and picked it up in October of 99. Its had a MTM chip in it since since the summer of 2000. Original turbos still fine. I've had a bit of renewed interest in it. It doesn't get driven much now, only 84k on the clock. I recently sold my daily driver as I have a company vehicle again. Last night the fact my lumbar support quick working on the drivers seat I pull the seat the apart and found a short to the motor. Man I love working on this thing. If the weather cooperates this weekend full clay bar detail is planned.
