I STFA.. RS4 Clutch not pulling in the biggest audience, but can i "lightly launch" :-p

If im going to run the 1/4, i'm probably going to roll out and just get a MPH, see how the stuff is workin'. I've been searching and the RS4 clutch has a bad rep when it comes to launching, but what about from 3K? Is it not worth it for me, just roll out and get a MPH? Any track advice?

I've had pretty good luck with both of the RS4 clutches that I've had.

If you learn to launch them right, they should hold up fine (at least mine did).

Its hard to really give advice... just practice with it and see what works. When I went to the strip with my RS4 clutch and K04 setup, it held fine for me. I found it best to slip it a little rather than just sidestepping the clutch (which would absolutely cause it to slip through the whole launch).

Now I'm loving my SPEC 3+ setup. I can launch the car at whatever RPM I want and the clutch just grabs and holds.

Granted I was not stage 3 when I had my RS4 clutch I was stage 2.I took it to the drag about 12x and

It never slipped on me. I had about 30+ 4000-5000 rpm launches and never had a problem. The only time it slipped a little was one time at waterfest 13 after about 12 runs on a 100+ degree day. It slipped a little on my last run.

But seeing your a VAST stage 3 not sure you will have the same outcome.

i have a straight RS4 clutch, the one time i tried a real hard launch it slipped badly.

i am ASP STG III, and regular easy launches are fine. i feel the same way, not planning on launching my car much really. if i go to the track, ill forego the huge stresses of launching and do MPH runs.

Perhaps mine didn't slip b/c I had less torque.

limey156 09-17-2008 06:19 AM

i think thats it. the straight rs4 is good, but i think *just not enough to hold a full stg 3 launch

2nd. I can launch my RS4 clutch from 2k and get off the line pretty good. The one time I tried

to launch it hard it slipped bad and smelled like burnt asshairs.

Won't be doing that again.

AudiSportB5S4 09-17-2008 07:22 AM

LOL. now i know what burnt asshairs smell like hahaha

i prefer lightly toasted myself, but to each their own i guess ;)

I've got 65K on my RS4 clutch, over 100 hard drag strip launches, one track day, one

autocross and about a thousand bezillion hard street launches on it. The last 43K of those miles have been stage 3 by the way. AWE LWF with it.
