If I'm going to run 235/40/18 tires, should I worry about rubbing inside or outside.

If I'm going to run 235/40/18 tires, should I worry about rubbing inside or outside.
This weekend I found out that 3 out of 4 of my Dunlop SP9000s had multiple bubbles on the sidewalls. I plan to replace the whole set even though the one good one has 70% tread left. I think I'm going to upsize from 225 to 235 but I'm worried about rubbing. Would I be more likely to rub on the inside or on the outside of the tire. My wheels are 18 x 8.5 and I believe ET37 in the front and ET32 in the back. My ride height is about 25.5 all around with my stock 17s on right now. I assume I would be a little higher when the new rubber is on. I'm looking at going with Michelin Pilot Sports or Goodyear GSD3s.
Can anybody give me some first hand knowledgfe of fitting these tires? TIA.

My 235/40/18 tires rubbed on outside/front, BBS wheels 18x8.5 ET=30
My BBS wheels are 18x8.5 ET=30. The front tires wore a small hole in the plastic fender liners. The outside edge was also cut slightly by the fender lip, near the liner mounting screw.
That's why I'm rolling the front fenders before mounting those wheels again. I had no problems in the rear. This was with the car lowered.

I had a set of 235/18/40's ET 35 on 25.6 ride height were rubbing on front outside
Had to roll front fenders and remove liners. Now running 255's, had to roll fenders again and clean up some welds in the wheel wells.

Im running a 235/40/18 on 18X8 rims with ET of 35 and I rub a tiny bit ...
when I am in a turn and hit a bump. I am running the MTM/Eibach combo. Ask S4Madman. Eh is the most knowledgeable person on here on wheel/tire combos.

235/40-18 Eagle F1's on 18x8 ET35...
...and I rub a little bit on the front, but really only when hitting a dip or when I'm going too fast on a poor road. This is with fender liners cut out, and a home brew half-*** fender roll, and STaSIS Tracksports at close to maximum ride height. ET37 will help you a bit more up front, keeping you 2mm more inboard. Even with ET32 in the rear, I *think* you will be fine. I would be concerned with going for an ultra-wide 235 though (like the S-03, which is about a "240"; I've found GS-D3's to about a "237")

Thanks guys, looks like if I don't want rubbing, I should just stick with 225.
I was just looking for some additional sidewall height to help avoid bubbles and bent wheels in the future.

Don't be a wuss, roll your fenders....
If people stuck to what Audi said you can do with the S4, there would be no mods and no reason for this forum
